Early Life of Suze Orman:

Susan Lynn Orman was born in 1951 in the U.S. city of Chicago, Illinois. When she was young, she helped out in her dad’s restaurant. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign with a degree in social work in 1976. The institution planned to award her an honorary doctor of humane letters degree in 2009. 

Professional Life of Suze Orman:

After finishing college, Orman moved to Berkeley, California, to work as a waitress. She opened her first restaurant in 1982 with a loan of $40,000 from a regular customer. Before launching her startup, Suze followed the patron’s instruction and deposited the $50,000 into a trading account at Merrill Lynch. 

Suze resolved to educate herself on the investing and everything that had transpired. She enrolled in Merrill Lynch’s training program. She joined Prudential Bache Securities in 1983 and quickly rose to the position of vice president of investments. She left in 1987 and established her own financial advisory firm in Emeryville, California.
